NL: In deze voorstelling wordt de mythologische koningin van de Amazones “Hippolyta” het symbool voor onderdrukking, kolonialisme en postkolonialisme. In tegenstelling tot haar rol in voorgaande mythologische verhalen en theaterstukken is zij niet langer een ondersteunend personage voor de ontwikkeling van de mannelijke hoofdrol maar een sterk vrouwelijk hoofdpersonage dat op zichzelf staat. Reeds bestaande mythologische verhalen over Hippolyta werden zeer nauwkeurig herschreven met een compleet andere ontknoping van het verhaal als eindresultaat.
ENG: In this play, the mythological queen of the Amazons "Hippolyta" becomes the symbol of oppression, colonialism and post-colonialism. Unlike her role in previous mythological stories and plays, she is no longer a supporting character for the development of the male lead but a strong female lead character who stands alone. Pre-existing mythological stories about Hippolyta are accurately rewritten, with minute changes in the plot; the result is a completely different resolution.
