LAYLA & MAJNUN
artZacademy
The students of the KunstZacademie 2019-2020 would be on stage in June 2020 for their show moment, which they have been working towards for a year. Corona stuck there a stop to it, but luckily the art creativity is unstoppable! What was originally supposed to be a play has been transformed into a film project!

Together with director Aïcha Cissé, the students set to work on the age-old Arab love story 'Layla & Majnun', taken from classical Arabic literature and later adopted and popularized by the Persian poet Nizami Ganjavi. It is described as the 'Romeo and Juliet' of the East.

Majnun, a poet, falls in love with Layla. But Layla's father disapproves of love. Layla marries someone else. Majnun is distraught…
